We learnt a lot with the preliminary task and we used quite a lot of the skills that we had picked up and some new skills in our thriller opening, the mac’s were difficult to use but as we pressed different buttons we tried new things and saw what the result was if we didn’t like it we could always change it back but by testing and trial and error we picked up useful tips. The camera was pretty basic but we learnt about different shots and the effect they had like taking a shot from the ground looking up make the audience feel inferior or the character powerful.
We had a few straight cut in our prelim but in our thriller opening I don’t thing we had any I think it was either a fade to black or fade to white.
This shot was a fade to white, it worked well as it could have been a refection back on the time.
We also learnt how to change the whole mini clip and the style of it, in our prelim we made a clip look like a cctv camera.
We thought this was a good effect as it did look like a cctv camera and with the height also it looked great, we had to stabilize the clips as it was a hand held shot as the tripod wouldn’t reach up that height but on the movie it looks quite good and realistic.
We also learnt how to speed clips up, on Hannah’s scene when she is sat in the chair, from the point of view shot we speeded that up, this shpt was really effective as it was from the victims point of view
In our prelim we used freezes which looked quite good we didn’t need to use them in our thriller opening but we learnt how to put them in and add titles on the macs.
