outline of proposal

We decided to make a religious thriller as it was something different for the audience to watch and also living in a religious area it all fitted in well with the plot. What we are going to have is the bible open with some rosary beads in the bible the camera will look at the 10 commandments and zoom into the thou shalt not kill and then move onto the storey , where we will begin with a fallow deer’s head on my abattoir floor we will then have the storey of how it happened. We start of with me getting a syringe ready with a liquid inside and then Hannah is just having a leisurely stroll and ask her to look at a map as I am lost and then I put the needle in her neck and see passes out and goes unconscious, I then put her in the car and take her to a secret location when I attempt to purify her and tie her up. Before this happens somewhere in the script will be a drugs deal with the lad who the victim is going out with. The religious bloke is trying to save her from him and gets envious when he see him with her. After he has locked her in this secret location he then tries to calm her down but she kicks him and he leaves her and locks her up in this place.

Institutions that sponser thrillers

Dimension Films are owned by weinstein company. They specialize in scary, thriller and parody thriller films e.g. scream and scary movie. This Institution would be good for promoting our thriller as it has dealt with some very scary thrillers that people who like a thrill have known as classics like scream and Halloween or Darkness. (All films released by Dimension Films prior to October 1, 2005, remain the property of Miramax Films. Miramax also retains a license to use the Dimension label for distribution of the film library it controls. According to the Associated Press, "[Miramax] continues to share half the proceeds from theScary Movie flicks and any other future installments in pre-existing Dimension franchises, it was founded on 25 November 1992)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimension_Films)

Media Prelim

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v90lQq1wEoo&feature=plcp&context=C3170f2aUDOEgsToPDskK9AzSEJdxLkNoRpSWOi7R1

our prelim went quite well as the corridors were mainly empty. we did alot of takes of someshots due to the noise in the back ground. we had an hour to film this peace and we also had planning time before. I really wnjoyed performing this peace and acting in it, luckily for us we had a expert camera woman well infact we had 2 and we included a verity of shots. the things we struggles with were passing students, not enough time to film and a decent place for 'The Agents' to take place. our srengths was our team efforts and good communivation skills. some of our weekness was our editing but i feel that wew will pick up of this soon after getting used to the macs.

Reseach of a thriller

What is
Thriller Drama

A thriller is
a film, video game and television program that uses tension, suspense and
excitement as the key elements. The most popular subgenre is a

psychological
thriller. After JFK was assassinated political thrillers and also paranoid
thrillers became popular. The examples of thrillers are films of Alfred
Hitchcock.

A thriller
stimulates the audience mood the key moods are a high level of anticipation,
ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, anxiety, suspense, excitement,
tension, terror. Red Herrings and cliffhangers are often used throughout films.
A chase or fight scene are common in thrillers it could also be a subgenre.

Crime
thrillers often have methods of mainly ransome, captives, revenge kidnapping
where as mystery thriller uses the whodunit technique and investigations. A psychological
thrillers most common elements of mind games stalking confinement and a
psychological themes.  Some other
elements used in psychological thrillers of false accusations fringes of
paranoia.

The audience
experience tension when a character is placed in a menacing situation or traps
that seems impossible to escape.  And
another time when the audience experienced tension is when a life is threatened
by character being involved in a dangerous for potentially deadly situation.  The plot of a thriller is to conflict with
the outside forces.

What setting
is for a Thriller?

An atmosphere
of creepy menace and sudden violence, crime and murder characterise thrillers.
They mostly are adrenaline rushing, gritty, rousing fast-paced. Thrillers
mainly take place in ordinary places. Though sometimes, they may take place in,
deserts, Polar Regions, or at seas. The heroes in most thrillers are frequently
ordinary citizens unaccustomed to danger. However, more common in crime
thrillers, they may also be "hard men" accustomed to danger, like
police officers and detectives. While such heroes have traditionally been men,
women lead characters have become increasingly common. Hitchcock's films often
placed an innocent victim (an average, responsible person) into a strange,
life-threatening or terrorizing situation, in a case of mistaken identity,
misidentification or wrongful accusation. (wiki)

Definition of
a Thriller

Thrillers may
be defined by the primary mood that they elicit: fearful excitement. In short,
if it "thrills", it is a thriller.

The ideas

1:WW2 theme based.
Location: The air field in Folkingham.
Includes: War machinery, Fields, Old tractors, Hangers, Silo’s.
Story line- Man goes to war, dies, ghost haunts the air field where his wife goes to “feel his presence” on a regular basis.

Old machinery
Rifle
Hangers
Tractors
Missile silo

Helmet
Blazers
Smart trousers
Smart Dresses
Medals

Old airport road leading to the modern barn in Farmland near Folkingham Airfield. This WWII airfield was open between 1940-1963 and was originally a "decoy" site. During the day there were dummy planes and lots of activity. During the night it was a Q site or night time decoy (with dummy lighting fitted) that successfully attracted the Luftwaffe. It was redeveloped in 1943 as a proper bomber airfield. The station was later turned into Thor missile base in 1959, but finally closed when Thor missiles were taken out of service in 1963. All that remains of this are three sites with a characteristic ground signature on the Folkingham side of the airfield.
2:
Hostage situation
Set at Henrys abattoir, Hannah tied up
Flicking between the girl hung up and the dad wanting to save her.
Conflict between kidnapper and dad of the victim, he’s keeping her hostage to get money and to prove a point.
Ideas for this from the film ‘taken’ which is a action thriller about a dad chasing his daughter around the world to save her from being taken hostage.

Provocative clothing
Black balaclava
Black clothing
Leather gloves
Dark Leather jacket

Rope
Knife
Gun
Dead animals
Phone
Briefcase
Money

Common abattoirs, or slaughterhouses, are used to process meat for human consumption as well as animal by-products.
This will be an interesting and captivating place to film our thriller, as it is a gloomy, gory and scary location that will give of a mysterious atmosphere that we need to portray.
3:
Psycho idea.
Man’s daughter dies of having a mental break down and drowning herself in the bath. he got rid of, so he got rid of her.
At the funeral the man has flashbacks of his daughter dying as he was the one who actually killed her, as she wasn’t the ‘perfect child’ and was rebellious, him being a religious control freak couldn’t andle it and everything he didn’t like

Black clothing- funeral.
White dress
Chief mourner uniform
Vicar uniform

Pills
Religious cross
Bible
Coffin- bake-o-lite

Cemetery was established in 1855 and consecrated in March, 1856. At that time, all the other burial grounds in the parish were closed for future burials. The cemetery is on Thurlby Road.

BBFC and Paramount Pictures

The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) was set up in 1912 and has classed cinema films since then and DVDs and Games since 1984. Although they class films the local council can overrule them on anything. The BBFC is a 'Not for Profit' organisation which only charges the company on its costs and has never received subsidies from the government or the film industry. why do they do it? protect  the public, and especially children, from content which might raise harm risks, empower the public, especially parents, to make informed viewing choices. Funnily Monty Pythons: Life of Brian is banned in quite a lot of countries due to it non religious content. In Malaysia all of the Monty Python sketches are banned. The only films banned in the UK still are c**ksucker blues, Mikey and Grotesque, i believe that the human centipede 2 ban has been lifted after making 32 cuts.

Paramount Pictures is owned by Viacom who also own nickelodeon and MTV and MTV films, viacom has owned paramount since 1994. Viacom has 170 media networks reaching more than 600 million global subscribers and more than 500 branded digital media properties.

Momento

This screen shot show Lenny with all of his tattoos,  the connotation of tattoos are middle class people however these tattoos are different as they hold messages as he has a memory condition. The shot is in black and white when the camera goes back to this shot when he is talking on the phone to someone is when he still has his memory. Lenny looks like an ordinary person in an ordinary hotel room. this shot follows the golden mean and the rule of thirds as his body and tattoos are in the center of the frame. If you can read the tattoos you will notice they are all about this one guy who raped and murdered Lenny's wife and the messages contain little bits of information to help track him down. as you can see by the shot Lenny is a physically fit person who works out, this is very useful in being a detective as you may need to run to catch a criminal or have stamina for a fight.

Memento as a films

Memento is a physiological thriller which affects the brain although it is not a really bad thriller like saw it is more on an action thriller with a very confusing story line as it is not in linear order it is difficult to follow but can be followed if you watched it several times. it is a very unconventual films as it runs not in chronological order if anything it runs backwards. in the first clip the music is very meloncolli and odd the writing blue on black is also unconventual, in the first clip you see the blood running down the walls this is the first sign on a physiological thriller. the audience are all the time enguaged as they want to know what has happened as there isn't a basic story line.

The Happening

The mis on scene in this shot shows all the people looking up at a screen, this could connote a public fear or some important news. the faces of the people look worried so the audience think that there might be a disaster, the consentration in eyes of the actors is imence. This is a p.o.v shot although the people are not looking at the camera. The lighting is natural so not is not in one certain direction. This is a mid shot so you can only see the top half of their body, although you cant see an emotion by the expression on their faces I don't think that something is going right.

This sht shows the woman pushing the knitting needle int her neck. this is a close up as it shows the face and facial expressions. The camera is at a P.O.V shot with no angle on it. The shot uses the rule of thirds and also the golden mean as yu can see that the womans face is in the middle and the kneedle is on the golden mean line. Lighting used in this shot is natural as they are in a park in the morning so the light is cmming frm the sun. Ths shot is the typical type ypu expect to see in a psycholgical thriller using fear and reality into the audience.

The shot here (although it is not very good) shows a police man lieing on the floor dead. This is a long shot as yu can see his whole body. The shot is thrilling as a police man (a man of power) is lieing on the floor with a hole in his head, this is not something you expect from a man of great enfrcement, this shot emidiatly warns the audience that somrthing is going wrong and so they assume that there is a problem. The sound on this shot is mainly silent with some diagetic sound in there aswell. The shot uses the golden mean and also the rule of thirds as the head of the deseaced police man is in the centre with the blood comming out of the cavity.

Psycho Post

This is a mid shot as it shows the girl in the shower but also shows the killer, at this point you can’t see the killer because of the shower curtain but you can infer that it is someone coming towards the shower, it is also a two show but this is not extremely clear. The shot uses the rule of thirds and is composed so that you can see the background movement but also see part of the girl in the shower. The mis-en-scene is important as you can see the girl in the shower but also a person behind the curtain. The body language shows that she is having a shower and being quite innocent but the killer is creeping in without being noticed this body language shows that He/She doesn’t want to be noticed and gives the audience a sense of urge that they want to know who is behind that curtain.
This is a close up showing the upper part of the body and the hand movements; this shows the killer and the knife. You could infer here that the figure standing holding the knife is going to stab the woman in the shower. In this shot the killer’s ace is hidden but we can infer that it is a woman with the long hair and the small hands. The light is coming from the back ground so the killers face is disguised the shower water also helps conceal her identity. This shot could also be a P.O.V shot. This shot used the rule of thirds and also the golden mean as this highlights the knife. The mis-en-scene is important here as you can see the killer and the knife. The body language is important here also as the figure look as if He/She is going to stab someone with the knife this connotes violence and anger. At this point the audience know why it is a thriller.
This shot is a high angle shot, which show the killer and the victim. From this shot you can deduces that the girl is being stabbed by the killer. The killers identity is hidden still b the shower curtain rail. The woman in the shower is trying to fight the killer but to know prevail as she eventually kills her. The body language show violence and aggression as the knife is thrust upon the woman’s body many times. The body language here is clearly shown as the killer is being aggressive and the victim is trying to stop Him/Her.

This shows the woman after she has been stabbed, holding onto the shower curtain, this is a close up of the hand on the however curtain this could symbolise the woman clutching to life when she is actually clutching onto the shower curtain. This shot uses the rule of thirds and the golden mean as the woman’s had is in both of these. The body language is not clearly shown here but in what you can see it is the woman holding the curtain, the mis-en-scene also shows this if you had not seen the clips before you could say that it is a woman pulling back a shower curtain, although here identity is hidden you could infer it was a woman looking at the nail paint.

This is the shot of the plug and the blood draining down it. This could majorly symbolise the life draining out of the girl as she has been stabbed and disappearing into a black hole. This shot really speaks to me and I feel that it should do exactly this to the audience who watch it, it is a brilliant piece of footage. After this shot was taken it then fades into any eye which really works well. This shot uses both the rule of thirds and the golden mean. The mis-en-scene is the plug and the blood which is just fantastic combination, the white bath meaning purity and the blood tarnishing it just works wonders.

The film is really powerful and is a typical thriller having all the characteristics which make it one with the murders and the hidden identity the location and much more. Psycho is a film which even saying the names makes people cringe as it is a classic which was directed by Alfred Hitchcock. All in all it is a very powerful and emotive film.

Review on Piranha

Recently, I have watched the film piranha which i thought was pretty good at the beginning the graphics we shocking taking medium to long shot of the water action wasn't the best but there you go. As the film got on the graphics were very good and was thrilling for me as I hate thriller but it did give me thrill which it was supposed to do. Most convention were used in the film, like long shot and different angles. Overall, the film was good and did what it was supposed to do, which was to frighten the audience which it did successfully and I don't feel like going near water now, so.....

Just Started
